Senior Program Officer – APS 6
 
  • 12 month labour hire contract with scope for a 12 month extension
  • Minimum Negative Vetting 1 clearance
  • Barton, ACT location (primarily office based)
 
Overview
Our Federal Government client is seeking a Senior Program Officer at the APS 6 level. The role involves managing an established grants program and related initiatives that strengthen a key bilateral cyber and technology partnership, including policy dialogues, high‑level visits and research activities. It requires delivering grant rounds, maintaining governance documentation, and supporting advocacy and strategic communications.
 
The position also contributes to strategic briefings, coordination and events, preparing materials such as ministerial briefs, meeting briefs and talking points.
 
A core part of the role is building effective relationships with senior executives, overseas posts, grant applicants, government stakeholders, international partners, industry, academia and civil society. Travel may occur occasionally, and knowledge of government processes and international relations is beneficial.
 
Skills & Experience
  • Proven ability to manage complex programs, including overseeing contracts, delivery activities and budgets.
  • Experience administering government-funded initiatives and working with grant management systems, or the capacity to rapidly develop these skills.
  • Highly developed government writing capability, with a track record of producing briefs, talking points and other clear, high‑quality documents.
  • Demonstrated strengths in project coordination, analytical problem‑solving and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
