Role 

Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.

The Infrastructure Engineers role as a Database Administrator Expert is responsible for installation, configuration, testing, patching, administration, troubleshooting and performance tuning of a custom-built pre-release non-relational database.

The position will support migration activities and design, as well as troubleshoot routine product issues independently and continuously evaluate DB infrastructure components to ensure system stability.

Responsibilities
  • provide expert advice to technical specialists and stakeholders and seek their cooperation in the provision of database administration.
  • schedule and manage database software installations and upgrades to maintain currency with supported environments.
  • administer the database configuration, security, scheme and objects, ensuring compliance against agreed standards and guidelines.
  • lead and authorise the implementation of access controls to secure databases from unauthorised access and use.
  • manage the data management process including initial loading, creating, maintaining, and distributing data.
  • implement corrective actions to improve performance and availability of databases.
  • recovery activities and cyclical disaster recovery exercises.

Technical Skills

Database Administration, DevSecOps, Mainframe Operations, ISPF/TSO, Control-M, Gitlab, Linux, RedHat, Ansible, OpenShift, OpenStack, Job Control Language (JCL), Restructured Extended Executor (REXX), Scripting Languages (bash, ksh, shell, python, perl, etc), COBOL, Assembler, Google v8 engine, Google Protocol Buffers, JavaScript/TypeScript Knowledge 

Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in administering complex database management systems
  • Demonstrated experience working in a highly specialised technical team environment
