We are seeking an accomplished RMA Specialist to lead the charge in ensuring the delivery of five-nines (99.999%) service availability for critical systems. In this role, you’ll take ownership of Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability outcomes, engineering and operating systems that meet stringent availability targets.
Your expertise will ensure that service dependencies are explicitly addressed, and risks are mitigated, guaranteeing seamless, dependable operations.
Due to the nature of the role, you must be an Australian Citizen with an active Federal Government Clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement end-to-end service availability models, identifying risks and dependencies.
- Drive the remediation of single points of failure, correlated failure modes, and operational fragility.
- Define and enforce reliability and operability requirements in collaboration with architecture, platform, and integration teams.
- Lead incident learning processes and root cause analysis (RCA), ensuring systemic fixes are prioritised over temporary workarounds.
- Assure changes and maintenance activities align with five-nines availability targets, managing downtime budgets effectively.
- Defined Service Level Objectives (SLOs), error budgets, and Recovery Time/Point Objectives (RTO/RPOs) with supporting evidence.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven experience in engineering or operating mission-critical, high-availability environments (five-nines or equivalent).
- Strong systems thinking skills with a comprehensive understanding of service chains and integrations beyond application-level uptime.
- Hands-on expertise in:
- High-availability and resilience patterns.
- Observability and alert signal quality.
- Incident, problem, and change management under tight downtime constraints.
- Ability to clearly communicate reliability trade-offs and risks to governance forums and stakeholders.
