Key duties and responsibilities
  • Enterprise Data Architecture
  • Current-state and target-state Enterprise Data Architecture views
  • Enterprise data domain and subject area definitions
  • Conceptual and logical data models
  • Standards and Guidance
  • Agreed enterprise data principles
  • Data architecture standards and guidance, including modelling, integration, metadata and data quality expectations
  • Reusable reference architectures and patterns
  • Data Governance Architecture
  • Architecture-level definition of data ownership, stewardship and accountability
  • Minimum metadata, lineage and data quality requirements embedded into designs
  • Alignment with privacy, security and audit obligations
  • Architecture Assurance
  • Architecture reviews of solution designs
  • Documented architecture recommendations and design decisions
  • Identification of enterprise data risks and mitigation advice
  • Enterprise Reporting Enablement
  • Definition of enterprise-level information structures supporting consistent reporting
  • Guidance on trusted and curated datasets, including traceability and quality considerations
 
Key Expectations of the Enterprise Data Architect include:
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders and delivery teams
  • Provide independent, professional and evidence-based advice
  • Produce clear, concise and decision-ready documentation
 
The Enterprise Data Architect must possess the following skills and experience:
  • Proven experience providing Enterprise Data Architect services in complex organisations
  • Strong expertise in enterprise data modelling, domain design and architecture standards
  • Experience providing architecture assurance and senior-level advisory services
  • Practical understanding of data governance, metadata, lineage and data quality
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Experience in large government or regulated environments (desirable)
