About the Role
The Change and Communication Specialist is responsible for planning and delivering integrated change management and communication activities to support the successful implementation of programs, projects, and business improvements.
The role focuses on the people side of change—ensuring stakeholders understand, are prepared for, and adopt new ways of working through structured engagement, communication, and change interventions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Change management:
- Deliver end‑to‑end change management support aligned to organisational change frameworks, including impact assessment, change readiness, and adoption planning.
- Conduct change impact and stakeholder impact assessments to identify people, process, and capability impacts and inform mitigation strategies. Develop and maintain change management artefacts such as change strategies, impact assessments, readiness assessments, and transition plans.
Communication and engagement:
- Develop and deliver targeted communication and engagement plans to support project and program objectives.
- Draft clear, accessible, and audience‑appropriate communication products, including intranet content, newsletters, talking points, FAQs, toolkits, and executive briefings.
- Coordinate communication activities across agreed internal (and where required external) channels to ensure consistent and timely messaging.
Stakeholder management
- Identify and analyse key stakeholder groups and tailor change and communication approaches accordingly.
- Build strong working relationships with business areas, project teams, internal communications, learning and development, and other enabling functions.
- Facilitate workshops and engagement sessions to support change discovery, impact validation, and business readiness where required.
Reporting and continuous improvement
- Track and report on change and communication outcomes, including engagement, awareness, and readiness indicators.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience delivering change management and/or communication activities in complex, multi stakeholder environments.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear and engaging messages for diverse audiences.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proven stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to influence and collaborate across organisational boundaries.
- Experience working in a government or large public sector environment.
- Familiarity with structured change management methodologies (e.g. Prosci, ADKAR, or similar).
- Experience supporting digital, ICT, or business transformation initiatives.
- Understanding of learning and capability uplift as part of organisational change.
Due to the nature of this role, this job is open to Australian Citizens only. Candidates who currently hold or able to obtain Federal Government Security Clearances are highly desirable.
