Our client is a highly regarded Federal agency responsible for developing policies, funding programs and regulating health care, aged care and disability services in Australia.
Role
As a Java Developer you will work as part of a team to deliver solutions for business and maintain current business applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and enhance Java‑based applications in accordance with approved user stories and technical standards.
- Deliver production‑ready code within agreed sprint or delivery timeframes.
- Participate in code reviews and address defects or quality issues in a timely manner.
- Contribute to Agile delivery activities including estimating, planning, stand‑ups, reviews and retrospectives.
- Maintain accurate and current technical documentation for delivered changes.
- Work collaboratively with business analysts, testers, architects and other team members.
- Undertake knowledge transfer activities to support ongoing system support and team capability.
Key Skills
- Extensive experience developing, enhancing and maintaining Java/JEE/JSF applications in enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse user stories or requirements, propose practical technical solutions, estimate development effort and manage delivery of work independently.
- Strong experience with enterprise development tools, CI/CD pipelines and established agile SDLC practices.
- Ability to analyse user stories or requirements and propose practical technical solutions.
- Proven experience contributing to code quality, documentation and technical consistency across applications.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, including engagement with non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience working in Government or other highly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with PrimeFaces and Vue.js or similar front end frameworks.
- Knowledge of secure coding, accessibility and usability standards.
