Human Resources Manager

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager for a Commonwealth Agency located in Jervis Bay responsible for overseeing community land, cultural heritage and local services. 

The Human Resources (HR) Manager will be responsible for managing all people and human resource matters including recruitment, development, employment relations matters, policies and practices, compliance & governance and training requirements.

Duties
  • Manage and provide strategic leadership and guidance in all people/human resource and employment relations matters.
  • All areas of recruitment and staff employment.
  • Develop and implement systems for performance appraisal, goal setting, and ongoing development to improve individual and team performance.
  • Handle employee concerns, resolve workplace conflicts, and act as a mediator between employees and management.
  • Create and administer training programs to enhance employee skills.
  • Prepare and present reports to the CEO and Business Manager on HR-people related areas.
 
Skills & experience
  • Experience in previous role as a HR Manager, senior management working in an autonomous but collaborative role in these areas of specialisation.
  • Experience at management level in the areas of HR, Employment Relations and WHS.
  • Demonstrated performance management experience, handling sensitive, confidential and sometimes challenging and difficult conversations and situations.
  • Highly developed written communications skills including developing policies and processes as well as training materials.
  • Experience of ‘continuous professional development’ processes,
  • Experience of working with Boards, Senior Management or leadership teams, adhering to contract and or funding/strict budget related requirements.
