Overview
Our Federal Government client is seeking an EL 1 Assistant Director Independent Advisory Council (IAC) Secretariat. Council was established to bring the views of participants, carers and experts in the disability sector to the heart of the Agency by the provision of independent advice based on the experiences of its members and their networks.
This role will be the secretariat lead for the Independent Advisory Council First Nations Reference Group. Along with other Assistant Directors you will be primarily responsible for the facilitation of corporate governance processes through the provision of secretariat support to the IAC. This includes ensuring that the IAC fulfils its statutory obligations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Development of strong stakeholder relationships with Independent Advisory Council and reference group members
- Coordination, preparation and distribution of meeting papers consistent with the terms of reference requirements
- Ensuring all papers are in plain English and accessible to people with a disability
- Managing meeting logistics, including attendance and travel and ensuring that the cultural and disability support needs of persons are met
- Ensuring that a complete and final set of meeting papers are maintained
- Attending online and hybrid meetings to ensure the meeting runs smoothly
- Management of minutes and action logs
- Assisting with the induction and on boarding of new members
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of governance policies, procedures and guidance documents
- Assisting with the management of sitting fees
Skills and Experience
- Secretariat or Government experience
- Qualifications related to administration, accessibility, governance or communications
- Understanding of cultural and disability needs
- Demonstrated strong stakeholder engagement
