About the role
Assist with the management and care of its nationally significant geological specimens, including rocks, minerals, and fossils, which are vital for research, education, and heritage preservation. Contribute to tasks such as cataloguing and organising specimens, maintaining associated electronic databases and hardcopy records, and ensuring the accuracy and accessibility of collection information.
Duties
- Handle, catalogue, and store specimens.
- Maintain accurate electronic records.
- Assist with audits and inventories.
- Follow collection procedures and WHS standards.
Skills & experience
On-the-job training will be provided for all required processes and procedures, however the following skills and experience are mandatory:
- Work efficiently under limited direction
- Safely handle, store, and catalogue specimens
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Maintain detail and safe practices in repetitive tasks
- Accurately record and enter data electronically
- Follow documented procedures and workflows
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Given the hands-on requirements of this position, duties must be carried out on-site; remote work is not available.
