Our client is a national agency who work to keep Australian sport safe, fair and inclusive by preventing doping, abuse, discrimination, harassment and competition manipulation. It partners with sporting organisations to strengthen integrity systems through policy, intelligence, investigations, education and capability building, while also providing an independent avenue for serious complaints.
About the role
The Finance team is responsible for all financial functions of the agency, managing departmental, administered and user‑pays revenue, preparing internal and external budgets, and providing regular financial management advice to the Executive. This role works closely with the business to take a hands‑on approach to developing and managing budgets, ensuring resources are allocated appropriately and supporting strategic, forward‑looking financial planning.
Duties
- Manage internal budgets across Departmental, Administered and Capital appropriations in line with the agency’s budget framework
- Deliver monthly management reporting, including variance and forecast analysis
- Lead external budgeting obligations, including New Policy Proposals, costings and compliance with budget rules
- Coordinate key Commonwealth budget processes, including the Portfolio Budget Statements and CBMS updates
- Provide high‑quality financial reporting, advice and contributions to briefs, estimates and the Annual Report
- Lead, mentor and support staff while advising project managers on resource needs, project budgets and financial oversight
Skills & experience
- Experience managing agency‑level budget functions to support strong fiscal outcomes
- Ability to interpret and apply public sector finance law
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships
- Effective liaison, interpersonal and negotiation skills to influence change
- Demonstrated integrity, initiative and adaptability, with sound workplace management experience
