About the role
The Senior Communications Officer (APS6)  leads the development and delivery of strategic communication plans that align with departmental priorities, partnering closely with senior leaders and business areas to translate complex initiatives into clear, compelling messages that inform, engage and build confidence among key stakeholders.
 
Duties
  • Develop and deliver strategic communications for key initiatives and events.
  • Provide expert advice on communications, media and issues management.
  • Build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Support high-profile launches, events and public affairs activities.
  • Partner with executives, government, media and veteran communities.
 
Skills & experience
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop strategic communication advice that supports business outcomes.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven leadership skills, including mentoring and supporting team members.
  • Excellent editing, proofreading and project management capabilities.
