Job Details
The federal government department is on the lookout for an experienced Data Scientist
to join their team.
Role & Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop data systems to support the departments ‘data informed diplomacy’ objectives including:
- scoping and development of relevant data sources, open source and official
- scoping and building of data models, working with a PowerBI developer
- maintenance and extension of scripts/tools for ETL, data wrangling, data cleaning and robust data syncing, utilising Python and other tools
- Data analysis and visualisation
- Maintain and develop AI tool(s) to support policy analysis including;
- maintenance and extension of a project for the summarisation and further analysis of open-source (news) and official material (Python, OpenAI, Azure)
- subject to stakeholder engagement, expand or fork the tool for other use cases
- fulfil documentation requirements.
- Provide other data services relevant to the objectives of the Southeast Asia Data Analytics Section as required
Technical Skills
Microsoft Excel, R, Python, SQL, AI APIs/libraries eg Azure, OpenAI.
Desirable: PowerBI and DAX
Due to the nature of the role the applicant must be an Australian Citizen with an active NV1 or NV2 security clearance.
