Job details
Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.
 
Key Duties
The Services, delivered in collaboration with and under supervision include:
  • Providing operational support and technical advice through the acquisition, development, deployment, installation and maintenance of systems for use in Mobile Radio and fixed site communications equipment.
  • Maintenance of the mission critical radio network.
  • Management of the national radio system using technologies including P25 and WAVE.
  • Support the uplift of radio and communications capability through enterprise program management activities.
  • Support and provide advice on the planning and implementation of telecommunications devices, networks and systems such as voice, radio, P25 core, two-way, data, microwave, satellite and digital data systems.
  • Support and assist the department in commercial discussions with State Radio Networks and vendors.
  • Issue and return of radios (controlled items) for BAU and special operations.
  • Undertakes contract management and procurement activities with State Radio Networks and vendors, including overseeing and measuring the fulfilment of contractual obligations.
  • Supports day-to-day management, resource planning and work allocation within the team to meet agreed service levels.
  • Monitors the external environment to gather intelligence on emerging technologies and evaluate the potential impact, threat and opportunities; and
  • Contribute to the uplift of radio and communications capability through enterprise program management activities including identifying and exploiting new technologies and improving existing technologies, ensuring they are fit for purpose and fit for use within operational context.
  • Maintains and monitors network performance including investigating and resolving complex and system-wide network issues to meet operational requirements using a wide range of diagnostic tools and techniques.
Due to the nature of the role, the applicant must be Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain NV1 clearance. People with an active security clearance are encouraged to apply.
