Job Details
The federal government department is seeking an experience and dynamic Data Analyst. They are on the look out for a creative problem-solver with strong data analytics experience, who is keen to use their data and communication skills to help answer big policy questions.
 
The Data Analyst will research and build data products on trends in key sectors and indicators of our engagement and influence.

Location is Canberra - Remote (outside of Canberra) may be considered for the right candidate.

Duties
  • Contribute to creative and innovative solutions to meet complex data collection and analysis challenges
  • Use analytical tools and techniques to process and analyse datasets, and ensure data is accurate, current and managed securely
  • Develop, maintain and publish data products using available tools: PowerBI Excel, Python/R and other software packages
  • Use data communication skills to transform data analysis into compelling products that can influence and are accessible to a broader audience
  • Employ verbal and non-verbal communication skills to engage with stakeholders
  • Provide data-driven advice to assist the Director and other teams to develop policy and strategies that support Australia’s interests.
Requirements
  • Will have demonstrated experience in PowerBI, data analytics and data wrangling, will understand and be proficient at all stages of data analytic process, including data collection, ETL, data wrangling, data cleaning, data mining and data visualisation/data presentation.
  • Will have an analytical mindset, an eye for detail and problem-solving skills. You will be great with standard data tools: Excel and PowerBI. You will have access to Python/R, SQL and other software packages.
  • Will have demonstrated expertise in communicating technical concepts and information to non-technical audiences, and engaging with stakeholders. A relevant degree is not essential but preferred, and previous experience in similar data roles will be highly regarded.
Due to the nature of this role the candidate must be an Australian Citizen with an NV1 or higher security clearance.
