We’re seeking a skilled and proactive  Chart of Accounts (COA) Lead  to join our Federal Government - established project team in Canberra - with an initial contract running through to  June 2026, and potential for extension.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a high-impact program, working with a collaborative and agile team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the COA team to ensure accurate, consistent, and compliant master data structures.
  • Maintain governance standards, policies, and procedures for COA creation and usage.
  • Collaborate with business units to align COA with statutory, management, and operational reporting needs.
  • Provide hands-on SAP support including creation and maintenance of GL accounts, WBS, cost centres, profit centres, internal orders, and hierarchies.
  • Support ERP transition activities including upgrades, enhancements, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve COA-related issues in transactional and reporting processes, including EOM.
  • Deliver training and guidance to team members and broader business stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present reporting to executive leadership.
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
  • Qualified Accountant or Systems Accountant  – highly desirable.
  • Canberra-based  – preferred.
  • Defence experience  – preferred.
  • NV1 Security Clearance  – required.
  • Strong attention to detail and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to lead a small team and adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with  SAP  or similar finance systems.
