APS6 Senior Chemistry Analyst
Our client is responsible for post market monitoring and compliance testing, investigations and reviews, as well as market authorisation assessment for therapeutic goods. They conduct laboratory testing in accordance with the laboratories testing program; provide scientific expertise to assess technical data for marketing authorisations; provide scientific and expert advice to internal and external stakeholders including industry, government and international agencies, and participate in the development of standards and international collaborative activities.
The Senior Chemistry Analyst will conduct, analyse and report on testing of therapeutic goods to verify that they meet required quality standards, to support investigations conducted in response to public health and safety concerns and for the purposes of accreditation, standardisation and international harmonisation.
Duties:
- Contribute to the planning and development of testing projects, including analysing data to identify and propose goods to be targeted for selection.
- Develop and review testing methods, manufacturing protocols, instruments, software and tools and establish their reliability and validity.
- Manage testing and calibration of laboratory instruments and tools, identify technical faults and prepare technical reports documenting findings and recommendations.
- Contribute to the development of testing manuals, SOPs, guidelines, international standards and pharmacopoeias.
- Maintain current knowledge of new testing methods and tools and train staff to develop their ability to undertake testing.
- Collaborate with other work areas; Exchange information with sponsors, manufacturers and government groups involved in the use, manufacture, supply and/or regulation of therapeutic goods.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of continuous improvement activities within the section.

Mandatory Requirements
A degree in chemistry or a closely related science from an Australian tertiary institution or a comparable overseas qualification.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
- Knowledge and application of chemistry and of associated analytical techniques and testing protocols.
- A capacity to undertake critical analysis of complex data and to provide objective advice on this basis.
- Knowledge of and capacity to work within a laboratory quality management system.
- The ability to manage projects and adjust to changing demands to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills including the ability to produce high quality written reports.
- The ability to build and sustain positive working relationships with team members, stakeholders and clients.
- Experience working in an accredited laboratory. Experience working as an analytical/forensic chemist.
