Job Summary

One of our clients in FedGov, is looking for a Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise networks. You’ll manage routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, troubleshoot issues, optimise performance, and work closely with cybersecurity teams. This hybrid role requires 5+ years’ experience, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication, with a focus on secure, high-performing network solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure to meet performance, availability, and security standards.
  • Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other network devices.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal uptime.
  • Apply network automation tools and scripting to streamline configuration and management.
  • Enforce network security best practices and collaborate with cybersecurity teams to address vulnerabilities.
  • Manage and support VPNs, DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, and routing protocols.
  • Knowledge of government ICT standards and ASD Essential 8
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support RFQ network requirements, including technical and value-for-money evaluations.
 
Essential Skills
  • Strong background in IT infrastructure and systems engineering.
  • 5+ years’ network engineering experience with strong technical skills across gateways, routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Network design expertise, capable of developing detailed and high-level network and gateway designs.
  • Problem-solving & troubleshooting, able to investigate and resolve operational and security issues, providing reports and improvement proposals.
  • Excellent communication skills, clear, concise written and verbal communication with stakeholders and team members.
  • Team collaboration, works effectively as part of a team, contributing to shared goals and outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to produce clear documentation.
Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold a current NV1 security clearance.
